So awhile back one of my friends asked if I attended a Miike (yes two i’s) Snow show that went down locally. I asked, “Who is Miike Snow?” She replied, “A Swedish band from Sweden”. Ok. Thanks for the descriptive response Janelle. I started digging and found such a refreshing sound and was absolutely amazed once I figured out what all the commotion was about. Miike Snow consists of singer/songwriter Andrew Wyatt backed by the production of Christian Karlsson and Pontus Winnberg. They can be compared to likes of MGMT, Empire of the Sun, etc…I remember having to open up for a friend of mine at Sutra Lounge in Costa Mesa (CA) and couldn’t help but play the Treasure Fingers Remix of their single Animal over their ill sound system. Granted this material isn’t considered the usual club style music I really couldn’t help it. It sounded sick by the way sandwiched between MGMT and La Roux. Anyhow, these guys have definitely earned a spot on my boarding playlist as well as the next mix I have been working on which should be done by the end of this month. I can already imagine pressing play on my iPod and rockin’ out at Roller Coaster Alley (Mammoth) to Black and Blue. Enjoy!
