THE GASLAMP KILLER and FRIENDS will be throwing a FREE party at the Mayan Theater in Downtown LA, to celebrate the release of his debut full-length album BREAKTHROUGH, on BRAINFEEDER RECORDS, Sept. 18.
First things first, you’re going to have to RSVP to get into this party for free. Head over here and enter, hopefully it’s not filled up already.
Alright, best of luck!
The first time I saw THE GASLAMP KILLER was my first time at LOW END THEORY, and for his set all I knew him as was “the wild dude with the crazy hair that is blowing my mind.” I asked the guy next to me who he was, and he looked at me like an idiot, and said, “Gaslamp.” The guy was justified in his response. How did I NOT know about this THE Gaslamp Killer?
He’s one of the founding fathers of LA’s Underground Bass Music Mecca, LOW END THEORY. His live performances are pure energetic freak outs, and he brings an eclectic mix of styles and sounds to his set that make it hard to put a finger on the guy.
Here’s a nice piece from SERATO featuring GLK.
GLK teamed up with RED BULL MUSIC ACADEMY to present THE GASLAMP KILLER & FRIENDS, and he’s got a crazy line up of friends. Low End is known to bring out special surprise guests every once in a while. It’s going to interesting to see who show’s up next Tuesday.
LOW END THEORY residents:
Daddy Kev, Nobody, D-Styles and MC Nocando.
Artists featured BREAKTHROUGH:
Gonjasufi, Adrian Younge, Dimlite, Daedelus, SAMIYAM, Computer Jay.
Past Low End Theory special guests:
Nosaj Thing, James Blake, Thom Yorke, Flying Lotus, Thundercat, Odd Future
I guess we’ll just have to wait and see who stops by, Tuesday, Sept. 18. Doors open at 8pm.
The Mayan Theater is located at 1038 South Hill Street, Los Angeles, CA. 90015
Check out the first single off of BREAKTHROUGH, “Flange Face.”
See you there.
