+ NIles Rodgers Praises New Daft Punk Record

Nile Rodgers, the artist/producer behind just about everything. Seriously, he co-wrote ‘Le Freak’, produced ‘I Wonder Why He’s the Greatest Dancer,’ Bowie’s ‘Let’s Dance,’ Duran Duran’s ‘Notorious,’ the soundtrack for “Coming to America.” Wikipedia this dude because is musical stats are incredible and expansive.

Rodgers is now working with electronic saints, DAFT PUNK, on their next album. It actually wasn’t even supposed to be a record. The three got together just to jam, and the vibe was so great they decided to make a full album. (To be a fly on the wall of that jam session.) Rodgers has blogged about the collaboration as “something that was meant to be.”

Recently Rodgers spoke with MIXMAG about the Daft Punk album. Rodgers genuinely hypes up the new material, and that’s very exciting considering the man’s previous work. Check out the video.

There was a rumor going around that on July 21 we would hear a new single, which obviously didn’t come out, but hopefully that means one is coming down the tubes soon.

Questions:

Is this going to be a “Daft Punk” album, or a “Nile Rodgers and Daft Punk” album?

Will this change there live set up?

For now, we’ll just have to wait for more information to come out, but as soon as we hear something we’ll let you guys know.

Follow Niles Rodgers on his blog, Walking on Planet C. He posts photos from his shows, talks about his struggles overcoming cancer, and is definitely worth checking out.
