The mysterious Australian duo,FLIGHT FACILITIES released their newest single, “With You” feat. Grovesnor, with a Daft Punk/Megaman inspired animated video.

“With You” continues to explore the bitter side of love and relationships found in their last two singles, “Foreign Language” and “Crave You.” Pair that with infectious dance grooves and you have a lot of dancing and crying in your dark room while smoking cigarettes at four in the morning.

The video is reminiscent of DAFT PUNK’s Interstella 5555 and MSTRKRFT’s “Work on You” video.(which is not that easy to find on the internet for some reason.) The It was animated by Benjamin Drake, who also animated the live visuals for GOTYE‘s song, “Easy Way Out.”

Flight Facilities also remixes of “With You” from MAM, Danny Daze and David August.

Speaking of remixes Flight Facilities just posted that they started working on a remix of the MIIKE SNOW song, “The Wave,” so we’re looking forward to that release.

For years Usher’s tracks have been making babies and breaking hearts, his newest single “Climax” has to be one of my favorite tracks of the year. It has sparked a treasure chest full of some the smoothest remixes from producers from the likes of Keys ‘N Krates, Flosstradamus and Volomo. Read this anonymous letter about a secret meeting that took place over 20 years ago that changed rap music and quite possibly destroyed a generation.

Hello,

After more than 20 years, I’ve finally decided to tell the world what I witnessed in 1991, which I believe was one of the biggest turning point in popular music, and ultimately American society. I have struggled for a long time weighing the pros and cons of making this story public as I was reluctant to implicate the individuals who were present that day. So I’ve simply decided to leave out names and all the details that may risk my personal well being and that of those who were, like me, dragged into something they weren’t ready for.

Between the late 80′s and early 90’s, I was what you may call a “decision maker” with one of the more established company in the music industry. I came from Europe in the early 80’s and quickly established myself in the business. The industry was different back then. Since technology and media weren’t accessible to people like they are today, the industry had more control over the public and had the means to influence them anyway it wanted. This may explain why in early 1991, I was invited to attend a closed door meeting with a small group of music business insiders to discuss rap music’s new direction. Little did I know that we would be asked to participate in one of the most unethical and destructive business practice I’ve ever seen.

The meeting was held at a private residence on the outskirts of Los Angeles. I remember about 25 to 30 people being there, most of them familiar faces. Speaking to those I knew, we joked about the theme of the meeting as many of us did not care for rap music and failed to see the purpose of being invited to a private gathering to discuss its future. Among the attendees was a small group of unfamiliar faces who stayed to themselves and made no attempt to socialize beyond their circle. Based on their behavior and formal appearances, they didn’t seem to be in our industry. Our casual chatter was interrupted when we were asked to sign a confidentiality agreement preventing us from publicly discussing the information presented during the meeting. Needless to say, this intrigued and in some cases disturbed many of us. The agreement was only a page long but very clear on the matter and consequences which stated that violating the terms would result in job termination. We asked several people what this meeting was about and the reason for such secrecy but couldn’t find anyone who had answers for us. A few people refused to sign and walked out. No one stopped them. I was tempted to follow but curiosity got the best of me. A man who was part of the “unfamiliar” group collected the agreements from us.

Quickly after the meeting began, one of my industry colleagues (who shall remain nameless like everyone else) thanked us for attending. He then gave the floor to a man who only introduced himself by first name and gave no further details about his personal background. I think he was the owner of the residence but it was never confirmed. He briefly praised all of us for the success we had achieved in our industry and congratulated us for being selected as part of this small group of “decision makers”. At this point I begin to feel slightly uncomfortable at the strangeness of this gathering. The subject quickly changed as the speaker went on to tell us that the respective companies we represented had invested in a very profitable industry which could become even more rewarding with our active involvement. He explained that the companies we work for had invested millions into the building of privately owned prisons and that our positions of influence in the music industry would actually impact the profitability of these investments. I remember many of us in the group immediately looking at each other in confusion. At the time, I didn’t know what a private prison was but I wasn’t the only one. Sure enough, someone asked what these prisons were and what any of this had to do with us. We were told that these prisons were built by privately owned companies who received funding from the government based on the number of inmates. The more inmates, the more money the government would pay these prisons. It was also made clear to us that since these prisons are privately owned, as they become publicly traded, we’d be able to buy shares. Most of us were taken back by this. Again, a couple of people asked what this had to do with us. At this point, my industry colleague who had first opened the meeting took the floor again and answered our questions. He told us that since our employers had become silent investors in this prison business, it was now in their interest to make sure that these prisons remained filled. Our job would be to help make this happen by marketing music which promotes criminal behavior, rap being the music of choice. He assured us that this would be a great situation for us because rap music was becoming an increasingly profitable market for our companies, and as employee, we’d also be able to buy personal stocks in these prisons. Immediately, silence came over the room. You could have heard a pin drop. I remember looking around to make sure I wasn’t dreaming and saw half of the people with dropped jaws. My daze was interrupted when someone shouted, “Is this a f****** joke?” At this point things became chaotic. Two of the men who were part of the “unfamiliar” group grabbed the man who shouted out and attempted to remove him from the house. A few of us, myself included, tried to intervene. One of them pulled out a gun and we all backed off. They separated us from the crowd and all four of us were escorted outside. My industry colleague who had opened the meeting earlier hurried out to meet us and reminded us that we had signed agreement and would suffer the consequences of speaking about this publicly or even with those who attended the meeting. I asked him why he was involved with something this corrupt and he replied that it was bigger than the music business and nothing we’d want to challenge without risking consequences. We all protested and as he walked back into the house I remember word for word the last thing he said, “It’s out of my hands now. Remember you signed an agreement.” He then closed the door behind him. The men rushed us to our cars and actually watched until we drove off.

A million things were going through my mind as I drove away and I eventually decided to pull over and park on a side street in order to collect my thoughts. I replayed everything in my mind repeatedly and it all seemed very surreal to me. I was angry with myself for not having taken a more active role in questioning what had been presented to us. I’d like to believe the shock of it all is what suspended my better nature. After what seemed like an eternity, I was able to calm myself enough to make it home. I didn’t talk or call anyone that night. The next day back at the office, I was visibly out of it but blamed it on being under the weather. No one else in my department had been invited to the meeting and I felt a sense of guilt for not being able to share what I had witnessed. I thought about contacting the 3 others who wear kicked out of the house but I didn’t remember their names and thought that tracking them down would probably bring unwanted attention. I considered speaking out publicly at the risk of losing my job but I realized I’d probably be jeopardizing more than my job and I wasn’t willing to risk anything happening to my family. I thought about those men with guns and wondered who they were? I had been told that this was bigger than the music business and all I could do was let my imagination run free. There were no answers and no one to talk to. I tried to do a little bit of research on private prisons but didn’t uncover anything about the music business’ involvement. However, the information I did find confirmed how dangerous this prison business really was. Days turned into weeks and weeks into months. Eventually, it was as if the meeting had never taken place. It all seemed surreal. I became more reclusive and stopped going to any industry events unless professionally obligated to do so. On two occasions, I found myself attending the same function as my former colleague. Both times, our eyes met but nothing more was exchanged.

As the months passed, rap music had definitely changed direction. I was never a fan of it but even I could tell the difference. Rap acts that talked about politics or harmless fun were quickly fading away as gangster rap started dominating the airwaves. Only a few months had passed since the meeting but I suspect that the ideas presented that day had been successfully implemented. It was as if the order has been given to all major label executives. The music was climbing the charts and most companies when more than happy to capitalize on it. Each one was churning out their very own gangster rap acts on an assembly line. Everyone bought into it, consumers included. Violence and drug use became a central theme in most rap music. I spoke to a few of my peers in the industry to get their opinions on the new trend but was told repeatedly that it was all about supply and demand. Sadly many of them even expressed that the music reinforced their prejudice of minorities.

I officially quit the music business in 1993 but my heart had already left months before. I broke ties with the majority of my peers and removed myself from this thing I had once loved. I took some time off, returned to Europe for a few years, settled out of state, and lived a “quiet” life away from the world of entertainment. As the years passed, I managed to keep my secret, fearful of sharing it with the wrong person but also a little ashamed of not having had the balls to blow the whistle. But as rap got worse, my guilt grew. Fortunately, in the late 90’s, having the internet as a resource which wasn’t at my disposal in the early days made it easier for me to investigate what is now labeled the prison industrial complex. Now that I have a greater understanding of how private prisons operate, things make much more sense than they ever have. I see how the criminalization of rap music played a big part in promoting racial stereotypes and misguided so many impressionable young minds into adopting these glorified criminal behaviors which often lead to incarceration. Twenty years of guilt is a heavy load to carry but the least I can do now is to share my story, hoping that fans of rap music realize how they’ve been used for the past 2 decades. Although I plan on remaining anonymous for obvious reasons, my goal now is to get this information out to as many people as possible. Please help me spread the word. Hopefully, others who attended the meeting back in 1991 will be inspired by this and tell their own stories. Most importantly, if only one life has been touched by my story, I pray it makes the weight of my guilt a little more tolerable.

It’s been over a year since CUT COPY released their third album, “Zonoscopes,” and are apparently already working on their fourth. If you’re having withdrawals from lack Aussie electro-pop, look no further.

Director Ryan Patrick, who also has a pretty sick blog about filmmaking gear called Halfsilk, posted the a new video for the song “Take Me Over” on his vimeo page. It’s your classic story of a girl who gets bullied, and how she over comes her tormentors. In typical fashion, she does what every victim of bullying does, creates a badass cardboard mech suit and power punches the bitches into the sky. (P.S. Really dig when the pixelated digital-noise effect is used as a transition.)

If that wasn’t enough Cut Copy for you, the bands bassist Ben Browning has just released a solo EP, titled “Lover Motion.”

Browning had help from his fellow band member Dan Whitford, with some keyboard production type stuff, and also from some Architecture in Helsinki folk.

The entire EP is streaming on the CUTTER RECORDS soundcloud page.

There is also a very serious, and artsy video for “I Can’t Stay,” that reminds one of 60′s French Films and 90′s Chris Isaak music videos.

In a time when Hip-Hop on the radio is lather, rinse, repeat it’s always good to hear something refreshing. Where She Go pulls influences from Indie-rock while keeping an undeniable Hip-Hop feel. The haunting chorus is contrasted by Name’s energetic delivery and deep lyrical content. After giving Where She Go a few listens I am excited to hear the rest of his upcoming project The Epiphany EP.

Not really much to say about Kate Upton that you can’t see for yourself. Amazingly sexy, killing it in the modeling circuit and of course the coveted cover of Sports Illustrated – Kate Upton is the current obsession! We all know nothing popular and sexy can ever escape the clutches of the infamous legendary photographer; Mr. Terry Richardson. Here’ s one for the fellas, enjoy!

The fact that the RZA’s name was attached to this song/video was what really grabbed my attention, and I’m sorry if that’s what grabbed yours, because, sadly, he’s not in the video and barely in the song. However, the Rzarector did remix PORTUGAL. THE MAN‘s “All Your Light (Times Like These)”, and a portion of the remix can be heard in the video along with the classic Bobby Digital call (I don’t know how to spell that sound. dododododo?)

On the plus side, this song and the video are ridiculously amazing. The visuals are a cross between the the X-Files, Se7en and Resident Evil, with an Inland Empire/ Salton Sea backdrop. If the locations look familiar, you are from Palmdale, Calif. (That’s where it was shot.)

The song has a bluesy, gospel-vibe, with John Gourley’s high-pitched vocals cutting to the front. There is also a small pice of the Abbott’s remix in the video version of the song, followed by some intense freaked out drums and guitar during the climax of the video.

To be honest, never saw it going there.

The video was directed by Dan Brown, who won a few Emmy’s for televsion stuff, like “House” and other things.

New music from the Mau5, well not exactly new but some solid rework to one of his classics; Closer. Deadmau5 has given us his second rendition of the tune  titled “Closer Rev. 2″. Keeping to the original with synths  from Steven Spielberg’s Close Encounter Of The Third Kind (minus the vocal sample), but beefing it up with some solid progressive house bass that turns it into a track worth adding to your set. This would be a gnarly intro during a Live Deadmau5 performance. Just saying!

The new video for The Rapture’s, “How deep Is You Love,” brings new life to this feel-good song. The video follows church goers getting ready for a day of praise in their church, while a mini Luke Jenner dances in the hands, and on the shoulders of the woman getting ready.

The video gives the song a hymn vibe. It was probably always in the song but I never noticed it until I saw all those crazy hats and ladies glowing with divinity.

Low End Theory has built a history of being one of the best weekly events in Los Angeles. A few hours before the doors were set to open the addition of a “secret guest” was posted on the Low End Theory Facebook and the comments went wild! Even the rain couldn’t stop the Low End fans from coming to figure out who the secret guest would be. As Daddy Kev was dropping his opening set Nocando hopped on the mic and announced that the secret guest would be none other than Flying Lotus. The crowd went nuts and by the time FlyLo was about to hop on stage The Airliner was packed wall to wall. Check out the footage I shot of him dropping some new music off his upcoming album below:

Talk about chills, goosebumps, and all smiles as soon as I got word that Kaskade had put out his Live Set from this years Coachella Music and Arts Festival Weekend 2. I was in another world for this entire set that night – “Happy Place x 100!”

It’s Kaskade vs Everyone in the EDM World during this set! Probably one of the most memorable Coachella sets in the history of the festival in my opinion. Fuck what you heard about mainstream house music – KASKADE IS MASSIVE!

Another installment in the long and fruitful combination between beautiful women and sparse clothing, a partnership that’s been winning hearts and minds for centuries, is street-wear brand Mishka’s upcoming supplementary Spring 2012 Lookbook shot by Rae Threat and Kimberly Kane. The music video for SÉBASTIAN TELLIER’s first single, “COCHON VILLE” (pig city), off of his forthcoming album, MY GOD IS BLUE, feels like a futuristic Caligula scene with Tellier as the grand wizard approving the madness around him.

The video starts out with a zoom-in of a creepy looking Tellier wearing thick eyeliner and a blue rob. For the next 20 seconds it seems like your normal, nu-disco, french-dance video, except for the dudes in the black Ku Klux Klan costumes.

Then the clothes start flying off, and now it just seems like another normal, nu-disco, french-dance video with some boobs in it. Very nice.

About 40 seconds later, the video starts to get strange.(The naked dude kissing a dog). No sense in spoiling what happens, just watch. (Look out for Tellier’s hilariously creepy nod of approval.)

You either loved it, or you hated it. Either way, you did just see that one guy’s balls from behind.

You guessed it, MY GOD IS BLUE is a “nouveau-prophet-leading-cult concept” album. Check out Tellier’s recruitment video.

“His return is more a descent from Mount Sinia than a breathless reemergence from the back-room, as his presence has ascended to a plane removed from corporeal pleasure,” according to his press release. “With “My God is Blue” Sébastien seeks to unify his ‘followers’ (fans) under the blanket of his message; love.”

Amazing.

“Don’t listen to my album; listen to my message,” he tells us. “Enter into vibration with my music. Let’s merge our dreams, together spreading this communal energy in an immense blue wave that will wash over the world—and the truth will emerge.”

Weather or not you think it’s all a schtick to sell records, or like Tellier, truly feels this album is “the first stone of a much larger construction, a construction whose ambition is nothing less than a radical change in our relationship to the world and other beings,” either way you know the music is going to be insanely good and occupy your earspace for months.

Disappointingly it is but a mere radio edit at the minute, however anyone with a pair of ears can understand why it is already being dubbed the tune of the summer. Vibes are big and the energy massive, throughout the track plus it is great to hear Dizzee back putting vocals down on something a little heavier than some of his more recent stuff.

Dizzee Rascal has also taken the coveted headlining spot at Snowbombing this year, which is in full swing right now. If like myself you missed out on tickets, or couldn’t make the epic journey there will be videos on the way showing us all what we missed out on. The track is set to drop June 6th on Ministry of Sound Records.

The man who Skrillex said was the reason he got into making electronic music, which subsequently lead to a series of replies asking “Where’s the drop?” much to the dismay of many producers out there.

That was then and this is obviously now. The track “Dark Steering” is taken from the album Ufabulum set for release 14/15th May. The obvious question is ‘was it worth the wait’, the answer is most definitely yes. The track itself is like a very dark and twisted account of what Tron would have been like had it been an 18 certificate and involved blood and blades rather than binary beings. The video is an absolute visual treat and worth the watch even if your aren’t a fan of the music.

Squarepusher had this to say on the conception of the track ….

“For a while I had apocalyptic nightmares about trails of nuclear missiles in the night sky. So I aimed to recreate that strange combination of exhilaration, terror and sadness both visually and emotionally through this piece. It lead to the idea of a spacecraft leaving earth at vast speed to escape, but oddly the music also made me think of it flying through a library. So I generated the visual aspect such that, as the piece progresses, it seems as if the viewer is ever accelerating through massive corridors of books.”

We are days away from Week 1 of a 2 part massive display of music, lights, and fun in the sun! Coachella has arrived and it’s time to get your game face ready. Beni Geffin and Niall Dailly also known as Plus One & Beni G but better known as the notorious Jack Beats – masters of the heaviest level of “Fidget House”, touched down on West Coast soil last weekend for “HARD Los Angeles”  inside the historic, Wiltern Theater. Beni and Niall, both champion turntablists and among the top producers of EDM globally are quickly becoming a staple in the dance world – and a definite force to be reckoned with!

Citing influences as diverse as Timbaland, Rage Against the Machine, A Guy Called Gerald and Sebastian, the two began to hone a style fusing House, Hip Hop, Drum & Bass and Dubstep with Electro and what emerged was a cutting edge sound – inspiring the likes of Skrillex, Diplo and A-Trak.

We had the chance to share a couple beers and catch up with Beni & Niall backstage just before they went on stage and pretty much woke the dead with some of the most super charged bass I have ever experienced! For the HARD faithful that weren’t quite on top of Jack Beats going in, knew exactly who they were shortly after hitting the stage and joined the masses in loosing complete control!

Gentlemen thank you for the time again, please introduce yourselves…

I’m Niall from Jack Beats & I’m Beni.

Drink of choice?

N: Currently I’m drinking Heineken.

B: I’m drinking Stella but we’re looking to move into something a little stronger later. We tend to have a drink mainly after the show.

N: We ramp it from there.

B: Definitely ramps up quickly! (Both Laugh!)

Known for your notorious DJ sets, DMC Champions, etc. We are all excited to learn more about this LIVE performance. Why the transition? What’s your whole motive behind the live set?

N: We developed this live set to accompany the album we’ve been working on, and then secondly just to try something different and experimental – not leaving behind the DJ sets because we love that just as much. We’ll always do both. But it’s quite fun to experiment with technology a bit and advance things.

B: And also create more of a visual, sort of light show as well. You know step things up a bit. Something that doesn’t always happen when you’re doing the common DJ routine.

What can we expect from this live routine? All Jack Beats original productions or are you working in tracks from other artists as well?

N: Essentially the live show is anything related to us, whether it is original production or remixes – we’ve had our hands in all of it.

B: Yea, it’s all our stuff man. (Smiles)

You guys have been working with HARD for sometime now. How has this particular promotion group treated you over the years?

N: Aaaw, man they are like our favorite dudes. Gary and the crew, we have a great relationship. From the start we knew we wanted to do our live show with Gary. We’re super tight!

B: They are some of the first people to support us and put us on…

N: On the scale of what HARD is, they were the first big festival size event to get behind us. So we got mad love them!

B: And not support like; “Hey we like your shit, we’ll book you.” but more of a “Hey we FUCKING REALLY like your shit!”

Not starting any beef with the East, but any differences in environment as far as HARDNYC and HARDLA go? You guys just wrapped up in New York, are you guys planning something different for this evening? Any significant differences you guys want to touch on?

N: To be honest the difference used to be pretty stark, for what we were doing. In the east coast it was smaller clubs, more of an underground vibe. And over here, well it’s kind of like how it is still now. The whole thing going on with dance music man, Terminal 5 was crazy – as I’m sure it will be here tonight.

B: Terminal 5 felt a bit like an L.A. rave and for the east coast kids that’s pretty wicked!

Let’s chat Ultra (UMF)… What was the experience like in Miami? How did it feel opening up the festival on Friday?

N: (chuckles) It was pretty cool man, it was our first time doing Ultra. It was the opening set, but was the best opening set one can ask for with the massive amounts of people loading in right away. It quickly didn’t feel like an opening set, which was really cool!

B: It was super fun man, you know we had the choice whether to play the main stage at that time or do a smaller stage later on in the day – but we were advised to go big and we’re glad we did!

What’s the difference in playing US festivals over European one’s?

N: There’s like a few. Firstly, and it’s pretty fundamental is the weather – and that affects so much. Here there’s a consistency, you guys do festivals in the summer, you’ve got great weather – things go as planned. That doesn’t always happen at home. And secondly, people here rave unconditionally, man! At home, they have their moments.

B: But they rave too though! (Laughs)

‘Dub for Clubs’, what’s the motive behind that project? Instrumental esque type beats available for free download. Why the free treats?

N: We always wanted to start to give away music alongside our official releases that we sell – mostly for the fans of course.

B: Free music is just as important as selling stuff. That’s how we started, you know putting our tunes on blogs, and that’s the idea to keep plugging stuff in that manner.

N: Guys like yourself that have been doing this for sometime now know who and what to look for, if it wasn’t for that culture we wouldn’t really be here now and have the opportunity to do things like we are doing tonight.

Is the Live show tonight going to venture in a bit of that ‘Dubs for Clubs’ direction?

B: To be honest, what will happen with the live show is going to be a lot of what you know about what we do for an hour, rather then breaking out with other people’s stuff – it’s just an intense hour of us. The direction will seem pretty familiar.

Any news on the release of your Full Length Album?

B: Apparently it’s August. After our summer, well I guess that’s your summer too. (Laughs)

Does the live set capture elements of the new album?

N&B: Yea, definitely!

N: Gonna try some things out tonight that you haven’t heard, so it’s going to be a bit scary.

Any fun collaborative efforts? Producers or vocalists you had the chance to work with?

N: Producer wise for the album we got the chance to work with Diplo, Dillon Francis, and there’s quite a bit more but we’ve been sworn to secrecy if you might say. (Laughs)

Final question and we’re getting personal with it… What’s your favorite sexual position & what do ya’ll bump in the bedroom? (Everyone laughs)

N: As in what music?

Another Scandinavian alt-electronic pop artist, however this time she comes with a distinct edge. Described as a “Swedish electro-goth princess” and standing at 6’3 she certainly has a presence upon entering a room.

Having won a Norwegian Grammy,  toured with Azari & III and SBTRKT and is currently held in high acclaim by tastemakers like Mix Mag, she looks perched on the edge of dominating a few musical scenes.

Her new track Restless is taken from the upcoming album, released May 28th, titled Highwire Poetry. The track features electronic synths that cry out to made in the 80′s but have a definite darker and heavier edge that fits in with the current musical scene and electronic styles.

Purveyors of all things great UK bass/urban scene Black Butter Records are pretty  much charted for mad success throughout 2012, short of them leaving the planet to inhabit a second earth, make sure you check their roster and spread the love. Their newest offering comes from the duo titled Cinemtic who have teamed up with modern day jazzz/blues man Jay James Picton.

The combination is little special. Jay James Picton has just been signed to Universal, so we will no doubt be seeing more coming from him in the future whilst Cinmetic are making equal waves on the underground scene in the UK. The production is a dark, epic rolling spectacle that creates a beautiful contrast to Jay’s vocals however the two compliment each other perfectly and strike a perfect balance.

I will forever remain on the defense anytime I come across a soul brave enough to take on a Bjork remix. That’s my girl since day one, and I take her music very seriously. So now that I’ve made my point on the seriousness of this attempt I can now praise the shit out of this track. Fucking MASSIVE track here my friends!

One Little Indian  set one of there artist loose on Bjork’s last album “Biophilia” and this is the done deal…

First up is this big rework from hard edged dnb producer Current Value. Talk about setting the bar nice and high for the remixes to follow. Other producers involved in the project include Hudson Mohawke and Matthew Herbert so keep an eye out for what I hope will be some stellar tunes.

The remix series release is set for the 16th of April with this and the rest shall follow in conjunction.

So here we go with the all new Nike Air Yeezy 2 WolfGrey/Pure Platinum sneaker, second colorway in the Nike Air Yeezy 2 series. Loud as fuck, but that’s why we love em & what we’ve come to expect in this Nike x Kanye West collaborative. This new Kanye design comes with tons of “bell and whistle” detailing. An  Egyptian inspired design brings these kicks to life, with his traditional plastic over strap still in tact – the sneaker now features different premium leathers on the upper, a glow in the dark outer sole, an ridge like heel construction.

The Egyptian theme is reminiscent throughout the sneaker, which now sports a fresh new pharaoh bird logo on the tongue, same creative you see on the sweet little bag they come in.

Alrighty then ladies and germs, let’s kick of Thursday with some really top notch remixes of the ever controversial Lana Del Rey’s next single in line Blue Jeans – due for release on April 8th. Of course you can always pick up Born To Die if you haven’t the patience to wait for the release. Dark, vintage and ever so catchy the sound is what we’ve come to expect following Video Games, but these fresh new remixes popping up across the interwebs  have me really excited and happy for the release and open to share with you all.

From my favorite working our way down. We first take a look at RAC‘s rework of the track which in my opinion – can possibly sound better then the original. Call me bias towards le disco but there seems to be something about that delicious disco riff complimented with the echo reverb that makes this remix so unbelievably choice! Now not far from the top comes a remix from the songbird of our electro generation; Gesaffelstein. His synth-line coupled with his vintage bass just delivers, delivers, and keeps on delivering! And finally Kris Menace strips it back into something more melodic and soft just before dropping into that dance vibe. “There’s some good ass grabbing going on in here!”

We all love Scandinavians. I love Scandinavians.. All of them. My obsession may border on dangerous and at times illegal in some countries. More than the people I also love the music, they produce and release some of the most atmospheric and beautiful tracks you will ever hear. Maybe it suits the mood of the country, maybe they wile away the winters deep in their production studios creating bleak yet stunning electronic music. Who knows?

On commencing my listen of Little Jinder I was not surprised to hear how the track began, dreamy, atmospheric, relaxing, then suddenly you understand why this particular Scandinavian has been making so many waves recently and has been signed to Trouble and Bass, that bass line drops. My eyes widened and jaw dropped, it is quite a thing to behold.  The EP which features releases from Deadboy and Starkey was released today to a fitting clamour.

The unstoppable machine of Cypress X Rusko has just opened its dark and tortured doors once more to let loose the latest offering from their upcoming EP, set for release in April. This time round we get a taste of a, so far, unheard track ‘Shots Go Off’, but with a devilish remix from Ki:Theory. 

It’s hard to say how far Ki:Theory has away from the original with this. However it IS safe to assume that Rusko isn’t going to be making any tracks that sound like this anytime soon soo we’d imagine Ki;Theory has done a pretty stand up job. The track is dark and epic with deep orchestral synths and an electronic rock guitar line that shares more in common with the end of the world than a song. I have to say I have been a big fan of everything Ki:Theory has put out of late and he has certainly defined a spot for himself and his take on bass music which is cosy and roomy but lacking space for anyone else who would be king in his stead.

Teasing us, she has been for many weeks, with various snippets of remixes from her upcoming release “Mind Controller” due out in April on her own label Hussle Girl.  Finally we have been gifted with the good stuff by way of video.  The cheeky lass got to go all the way out to LA to film the vid which see’s her getting dumped by the side of the road but with a truely British stiff upper lip she makes the most of nature and the surrounding area by having a dance in the rays of the setting sun before getting on her trusted bmx and cycling back to civilisation.

Inspired by Desillusion’s world, THE DEATH OF COOL cruiser is a skateboard shaped entirely by hand, made with a mélange of different wood “Iroco-Chestnut-Ipe-Mahogany-pear”, fixed onto Gull Wing 150mm trucks and Polyurethane wheels 50mm (Abec 3 precision).

The cruiser comes with it’s own “Mini coffin” box, a coffin shape made from mahogany and iroco. The insides are padded with real leather and feature a brass chain to hold the board. Produced in ultra limited edition THE DEATH OF COOL cruiser by WOODIART is available only at THE GARAGE.

The remixes come very loud, very hard and full of “Oh My Gosh Did You Just Hear That” moments. Maybe the most interesting thing about all of the remixes is they somehow still retain that distinct Noisia feel. Whether that is testament to the remixers or the trio having such a distinct niche to occupy is not important.

Perfect mood setting for either a night or “raging”, front room skanking, heavy while seated head nodding, boring journeys on public transport or just a chilled night in with some very heavy basslines.

An unlikely trio, if you looked at it on paper. Rusko, Cypress Hill and Travis Barker. Well, perhaps not a Cypress Hill and Travis Barker connection but throwing Rusko into the mix seems a little bit wild, even for a group of mayhem inducing rockstars.

Away with you and throwing sensibility to wind, the musical menage a trois went ahead. The results is, in my humble opinion, a more interesting and more original sounding track than the original. Where the initial Cypress Hill X Rusko – Roll It Light It sounded more like a Rusko tune featuring vocals from Cypress, Travis puts a spin on this which creates a track equal parts electronic and analog.

The signature drums of the tattooed many of a million collaborations, shines through and give the track a definite grounding in rock rather than dubstep. While the electronic synths create atmosphere but gone are the big wobbles of the original track. Check it below and download for free.

A couple nights ago LoPro and I came across these gems on some random kids Twitter. Believing and now confirming that they are a limited custom sneaker – we are happy to share the details of who, what, where & when…

Dave White and Michael Jordan are back at it again, and this time the result is the Air Jordan 1 High DW. The sneaker features the iconic Jordan black/sport red-white-cement grey colorway, and even bring in the elephant print on the forefoot laces-strap.

White actually created four design options for this shoe, each implementing expressive elements. While eye-catching from the jump, White thinks that it’s the detail is where it’s at at what sneakerheads will appreciate most.

The brand has also put together a Jordan DW WINGS crew T-shirt to commemorate the release.

Stumbled across this great video earlier that made me smile and has me sitting in anticipation to listen to the track and hopefully get the opportunity to watch the film. Big time musical talent (DJ/Producer/Jack of all trades) Mark Ronson has recently been spotted spending a significant amount of time with men and women Olympians capturing sounds from each athletes hop, skip, and a jump in order to produce a soundtrack for the 2012 London Olympics. Being that the process of allocating such sounds & creativity is fascinating for all that catch a glimpse, a film directed by Kim Gehrig entitled, “Beat 2012″ will accompany the music.

WARNING : PLAY AT MAXIMUM VOLUME

“My goal is to make the most intricate, layered, and amazing mix that’s ever been done. Period. I’m not trying to just put out a mix; I’m trying to put out a mix that other DJs will listen to and aspire TO do. I don’t fuck around. I want to be amazing.”

This quote, taken from a recent interview, sums up the Dieselboy philosophy when it comes to making mixes. There are a million lifeless djs and a million mediocre mixes.

This is not one of them.

In Wake The Dead, Dieselboy reworks 87 tracks to make an incredibly deep and textured 84 minute mix. This isn’t a rinseout of big rave anthems. This isn’t a collection of his latest top 20 tunes. This is an archive designed to stand up to repeated listens, slowly revealing new sounds and elements over time. Taking a conceptual cue from The Walking Dead and referencing what Dieselboy feels is a definite “bar lowering” of current dance / dj culture, Wake The Dead is his effort to break boundaries yet again. Featuring almost an hour of heavyweight drum and bass and another 25 minutes of blistering dubstep from his Subhuman label “family and friends”, Wake The Dead has more bass pressure than you can handle.

It’s 2012 and the “dj mix” gauntlet has been thrown.

Turn this up as loud as possible…and get ready to WAKE THE DEAD!

I honestly have no words to add that weren’t already expressed above – besides the fact that I pretty much crapped myself midway through this mix!  The layering is phenomenal! The selection is so choice! The absolute best mix I’ve heard so far in 2012! DJ’s the bar has been set extremely high. Come get some!

These Nike Lunarglide’s just keep coming and coming, with how many styles released now? Seems like with each release, the sneaker gets fresher and fresher. Well the freshness stops here for me as I have now found my shoe to close out Summer of 2012. Yes, I said “close out Summer of 2012″ – bummer we have to wait 5 months for this release. UGH!

PRISM is pleased to present Miss You, an exhibition of new paintings and sculptures within an immersive installation by famed Brazilian artists Os Gemeos. In Miss You, Os Gemeos plays with fantastical notions of magical realism. It is a visual exploration of the Twins’ interest in life’s natural magic, its dreams, sentiments, surrealism, realizations, relationships, love, hate and ultimately underlines their intrinsic curiosity to question everything around them. Through their visual language, Os Gemeos creates a beautiful universe populated with their iconic characters and introduces the viewer into a vibrant world of imagination that stems from their subconscious.

For this exhibition, Os Gemeos takes the viewer through a labyrinth of visual language fashioned from the artists’ minds. Upon entering the exhibition, the viewer is transported into an alternate world filled with color, light and sound. While each work reverberates individually, together they expand through a range of pictorial styles and concepts. In Do Outro Lada Da Lua (The Other Side of the Moon), 2012, the Twins incorporate stripes, opposing colors and perspective tropes to give the optical illusion that their signature yellow character is trapped in a falling position. Miss You asks the viewer to let go, to be naïve, to resist reality, if only for a moment, and accept a world where dreams and imagination are allowed to flourish.
