+ Doc J Raps For A Cure

There are a lot of ingenuous people in the entertainment industry, people who won’t give you the time of day unless it benefits them. Because of this, it’s always nice to meet a man who truly cares about the well being of others. About a month ago I had the chance to sit down with just such a man, Long Island rapper Doc J. Born Lewis Jassey, Doc J is unlike anyone else in the Hip Hop world.

Every morning Jassey gets up and goes to an office, a doctor’s office. You see, Doc J is actually a pediatrician by day. But, when the work day is done for most, Jassey heads into the booth to record with the Raw Poets crew. Jassey’s music plays off the fact that he’s doctor, but it’s more than just a gimmick. Doc J uses the proceeds from his music to benefit ALS and Autism research. As a pediatrician he’s cured several children plagued by Autism; so, he knows how troublesome the disease can be. ALS is also a disease close to Jassey because it took his father’s life.

Doc J has been making a name for himself lately with school visits, concerts, and and a feature on the NBC news. I wanted to expose Doc J to all of you with the hope that you’ll head over to his website and donate money to the cause. Down below I’ve included the video of his NBC appearance and a couple tracks that Jassey was nice enough to send me.
