Benny Benassi Bike Tour was a major West Coast club tour by Italian DJ Benny Benassi completed via fixed bicycle. It launched in San Francisco Friday, September 10 with a show at Ruby Skye. The actual ride officially started from SF’s Golden Gate Park the next morning and took Benny south along California’s scenic coast for club stops at the Catalyst Club in Santa Cruz, Tonic in Santa Barbara and The Music Box in Los Angeles, wrapping up in San Diego at On Broadway, September 19.

So who else can say they they’ve done a club tour spanning across 6 cities on his “Fixie”? We were lucky enough to catch Benny’s show in L.A. as he made a stop to serve up some nice beats at the Music Box.

I could tell this show was going to be wild just by the looks on everyone’s faces in the mob line of fans that waited anxiously to get in. I remember approaching the front of the line feeling like a giddy kid that had just found her golden ticket to the chocolate factory.

The vibe was awesome. I managed to make some friends on the way to stage and even caught myself starting to party before I remembered I had a job to do.

The go-go dancers held my attention before Benny’s set. The fact that they were almost completely naked wearing crazy wigs with no top other than the black X’s taped over their chest kept me amused.

This show rocked. There was no climax to his set. The whole way through was constant energy.  Few DJs can command the crowd like he did. He dropped hit after hit of his original work mixed in with some bangers. I remember hearing a Red Hot Chili Peppers remix that sent the crowd into a frenzy. When he played his own remix of Pursuit of Happiness by Kid Cudi that did it for me. This was one of those shows where you walked out of the venue and even bigger fan then when you came in.

All in all, it was a good night for the fans and an exceptional night for “Electro” music. This show served as a simple reminder from Benny as to why he can easily be considered one of the best DJ’s in electronic music and it doesn’t look like he’s going to be letting up any time soon.
