With little info about the artist herself, Antonella Spagnoli, akaandyworld hails from Italy and is obviously very proficient in Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign. Her other interests include drawing, creating comics and illustrations. Without further due, enjoy!

Life’s a Dream

You might know Gustave Courbet’s artwork called “Origine du Monde”. This is my fantasy transposition, how I see it with my eyes. As Caldiron de la Barca said, “life’s a dream.” And my painting reflects this in all its elements: a dreamy woman, the tree of life, the flying nourishing udders as fairy godmothers surrounded by an enchanted wood.

This piece was done entirely in Illustrator, with the exception of the fog which was painted.

Hope

Sometimes you may not have easy moments in your life…this girl is trying to keep her bad thoughts away. The thread is the single strand of reality that she’s clinging to. However her grasp on the thread is slight…
The dark cats are like small evil entities who are trying to call her back in the strange world behind her. It may looks like a safe place, an easy choice, but it’s outside reality. Don’t let yourself go. This one is dedicated to Ella e Mada :)

Junkie

Among the various technology devices, the TV is the machine that I like the least and the brainwashing resulting from its over-use really annoys me.

I wanted to portray a girl who is passive, surrounded by televisions that are more like nightmarish tentacles. She looks almost comfy in her deadness, but her body is cold and her face frozen in a monochrome expression, as if you couldn’t get any of her thoughts even if you’d wanted to. And even puppets have compassion for her, tough she doesn’t seem to realize that. Lost somewhere else.

Shari

With this piece I wanted to create something visually relaxing. I was waiting for the chance of creating something with the colours I love the most: blue and orange. Shari is simply my sister’s name, but I think suits the woman in the painting.
This was made using vectors (with Illustrator) for the woman and painting the background in Photoshop. Lights and texture on woman’s body/umbrella are made in Photoshop as well.

The True Original Sin

This is my lay interpretation of the original sin. Eve gives a poisoned apple to Adam. He falls down over the grass after having had a bite while the little angel is staring at him quite shocked. All this time Eve played the part of the one who’s been corrupted by the devil. In my imagination she’s just a progenitor housewife who’s getting rid of her sluggard man!
